I Thought I Would Never Recover From My “Sciatica”
She was in her thirties.
For many years, she had been struggling with persistent pain on the left side of her lower back, buttock, and leg.
The most uncomfortable part was not only the lower back pain itself, but a deep, fixed pain point inside the left buttock. Sitting too long made it worse. Walking too much made it worse. Standing for long periods also increased the discomfort.
Sometimes the pain radiated down the leg, with occasional numbness in the thigh.
It was not the kind of unbearable pain that sends people to the emergency department.
But it was always there.
Annoying.
Draining.
Something that slowly affects mood, sleep, confidence, and daily life.
To try to relieve the pain, she often used a tennis ball on the floor to roll over the painful area herself, hoping to “release the tight spot.”
Over the years, she tried many different treatments and saw different practitioners.
Some treatments gave temporary relief, but nothing really solved the problem.
Later, in her Google review, she wrote:
“I had been in so much pain, trying various treatments with little success, and I even thought I was incurable.”
For a long time, she believed she had “sciatica.”
Many people told her the same thing.
But after a detailed assessment at our clinic, it became clear that the problem was not simply a typical lumbar disc issue.
The main irritation was coming from tight tissues and nerve pathways around the buttock region.
Once the real problem was identified, the treatment direction changed.
After the first treatment, she already felt:
“This finally feels like the treatment is reaching the real problem.”
After her third treatment, she reported that her pain had improved by about 90%.
What affected her most was not only the reduction in pain.
It was the feeling that she finally had hope again.
Many people with long-term lower back and leg pain are not only suffering physically.
They are also exhausted emotionally after years of unsuccessful treatments and uncertainty.
That is why finding the real cause is often more important than simply chasing symptoms.
Later, she left this review:
“I am truly grateful to Dr Huang and his team. Such excellent acupuncture is extremely rare in New Zealand, and I would recommend him to everyone.”
