Teresa’s Case Study(01–100) | Teresa’s clinical reflections, thinking and reasoning of the cases | Auckland Acupuncture Clinic
Introduction
Every patient comes to the clinic with a different story. Even when two patients have the same diagnosis or similar symptoms, the underlying problem, stage of recovery and appropriate treatment may be very different.
Teresa’s Case Study is a collection of real clinical cases from Teresa Shen’s acupuncture and Chinese medicine practice in Auckland. These cases cover common presentations such as musculoskeletal injuries, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, sports injuries, nerve-related symptoms, chronic pain and ACC injury rehabilitation.
The purpose of this series is not simply to describe what treatment was given or whether a patient improved. Each case looks at the clinical thinking behind the treatment: What did the history and physical examination tell us? What might have been overlooked? Why was a particular treatment selected? And what did the patient’s response tell us when the case was reassessed?
Through these cases, Teresa records her developing clinical experience and her approach to combining Chinese medicine, acupuncture, modern anatomy and clinical assessment in everyday practice.
Cases 01–100 will be progressively added to this collection.
