[PhD Win Medical Case Record] Sharp and Severe Pain in the Medial Knee: Diagnosis and Treatment of Saphenous Nerve Entrapment
He has been experiencing severe right knee pain for the past two months.
The pain is localized in the medial aspect of the right knee, characterized by sharp and intense discomfort when transitioning from sitting to standing. Interestingly, walking provides some relief. The pain is particularly troublesome at night, worsening when lying on the side. He also walks with a limp.
Upon examination, there is increased tenderness at the right Baichongwo acupuncture point, with pain radiating to the medial aspect of the knee. The sensitivity is most prominent in the medial right knee area.
Based on these findings, I suspect saphenous nerve entrapment.
Treatment involved acupuncture with a single needle, cupping, and bloodletting at the Baichongwo point.
After the treatment, the pain has subsided.
