Treating difficult migraine with acupuncture and herbs
Dr win Huang
Ms. Helen, getting a headache for ten years. It occured many times a year, it last one week or more every time, specially it would occur after getting cold or drunk or feeling too tired. She felt prickly pain on right back of head, which radiated to right eye, so she had seen the specialist in eye. The pain was aggravated by turning head to right side or press the right back of head with hand, relieved by keeping warm or good rest. Sleeping was not good, because of the headache. She would go to bed and had a good rest when it occured every time, it affected her work and normal life. She had looked for many way to treat her headache in western and oriental medicine, had not get a little benefit, so she was very sad , she thought that she would have the headache to death, and she did not want to look for any treatment for her headache, she believed that there was not treatment for her headache in the world right now. fortunately her friend had headache too, had acupuncture in my clinic, and had a good effect after treatments, so her friend introduced her to see me to try acupuncture and herbs
Occipital I did Chinese diagnoses for patient depending on her case history and tongue and pulse, and made a treatment plan. I also made western medicine diagnoses depending on her symptom, my examination and my experience, it is occipital neuralgia, it is a nerve inflammation. If the inflammation was worse when she was tired or had cold or drunk, she had a bad headache, if the inflammation was better when her health condition was good, she had not headache, but the inflammation still stay in her right back of head, when her health condition is not good, the headache will occur, so it is the reason of frequent headache.
I choose some points in TaiYang Chennal and local points. And did acupuncture three sessions a week, the headache is gone after four weeks. I also give her some herbs during acupuncture for headache. Patient satisfy my treatments.
